Creative Strategy

Creative strategy is the discipline of deciding what a brand should say, to whom, and why, before a single ad gets made. At Admatazz, it's the layer that sits above execution: the thinking that decides whether a campaign will be remembered by the people who don't yet buy from the brand, not just liked by the people who already do.

01

What creative strategy means at Admatazz

Most agencies write a creative brief after deciding what the ad should look like. We do it the other way around.

Creative strategy starts with a question: what does the brand need to be known for, and what's the one entry point that will make people think of it at the moment they're ready to buy.

From there, strategy defines:

  • The core idea a brand should own, and defend, across every campaign
  • The distinctive assets, visual, verbal, or sonic, that make the brand recognisable without its logo
  • The category entry points that decide what a campaign should actually be about
  • A consistent creative direction that every execution, from a reel to a TVC, can be built from without starting over each time
02

Why creative strategy matters

A brand without a strategy behind its creative ends up reacting to trends instead of building on itself. Every campaign starts from zero, every agency review becomes a debate about taste, and nothing compounds.

A brand with a clear creative strategy gets the opposite: work that looks different from a competitor, gets easier to make each time, and gets easier to recognize the more of it exists.

Our approach

Diagnose

Diagnose

What does the brand currently own in people's minds, and what's actually available to claim

Define

The core idea, category entry points, and distinctive assets the brand will build around

Direct

Direct

A creative platform that every team, internal or external, can execute from consistently

Defend

Defend

evaluating new work against the strategy, not against personal preference, so the brand doesn't drift from plan to execution

04

Who this is for

Brands that are tired of every campaign feeling like it's starting from scratch. Brands that have run creative work for years without building the connecting any of it. Brands about to enter a new market, launch a new product, or reposition, who need the thinking done properly before the filming starts.

F.A.Qs

A creative brief is written for one campaign. Creative strategy is written for the brand, and every brief that follows should come from it.

Brand strategy usually defines positioning and audience. Creative strategy translates that into what should actually appear in the work, the ideas, assets, and entry points a creative team can use.

It depends on how much diagnostic work is needed. A brand with existing research and tracking data moves faster than one starting from a blank slate.

It's built at the brand level, so it can be applied to every campaign that follows, not rebuilt each time.
